Steve Czerwinski spent 25 years as a chemist in the US Army’s Medical Service Corps and retired at the rank of Major.  As an Army chemist, he served as a clinical chemist at several major Army medical centers, as well as an environmental organic chemist and biomedical researcher at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland.  Steve studied Physics at Knox College, Chemistry at DePaul University, and Pharmacology at University of Maryland, Baltimore.   After his military career, he spent over ten years as a college professor teaching chemistry, earth science, and, most recently, pharmacology and pathophysiology for Morgan State University in the baccalaureate nursing program.  He is currently the Regulatory and Testing Specialist in the R&D Division for Innovative BioDefense, Inc and the Vice-Chair of the Medical Advisory Board.


Dr. Schmellenkamp studied biochemistry at Tubigen and received his doctorate from Regensburg.  He immediately entered the pharmaceutical industry, serving as a Scientific Director at Deutsche Pharmacia in Frankfort.  He then accepted a position as the Managing Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Heidelberg, and also ran the German Cancer Society and headed a working team of Cancer Care Centers throughout the country.  Dr. Schmellenkamp then served as Medical Director for Pharmaleo before accepting a position as the Head of the Medical Information Department of Merkle, Ulm.  He was then promoted to Acting and Deputy Head of the entire Medical Department.  Dr. Schmellenkamp has consulted with pharmaceutical companies for nearly 20 years, providing his expertise in scientific project management.


With a Ph.D. in biology from New York University, Dr. Loebenberg has more than 35 years of global pharmaceutical experience in research and development. His research focus has been in infectious disease relating to human and animal health.  With extensive regulatory experience, Dr. Loebenberg has evaluated licensing opportunities, written sections of Investigator Brochures, INDs, NDAs, and CTDs  and has been involved in all Phases of clinical testing.

The author of more than 100 peer-reviewed papers, Dr. Loebenberg has received numerous awards and honors, is listed in “Who’s Who”, and is very active in the community.  He has served as a board member for several startup pharmaceutical and medical device companies.  Dr. Loebenberg brings that business acumen, as well as his extensive experience in the prevention of infectious disease, to the Medical Advisory Board for Innovative BioDefense.


Barbara is an Air Force veteran with 30 + years of experience in nursing, including extensive nursing management and hospital administration positions.  She graduated from St. John’s School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Pa. She earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Maryland and MPA from Golden Gate University, San Francisco. She has been a hospital Quality Director, responsible for Joint Commission and health department surveys. Her experience includes Infection Prevention and Employee Health. She was named a “Great 100 Nurse” for the greater Dallas-Ft Worth area in 2007.  She has been a Quality Performance Improvement Project Manager with Texas Health Resources at the corporate headquarters and earned her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt last year.  Barbara has also served her community in numerous volunteer positions and boards, including being elected to the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Board of trustees and serving as a board officer during her term.

Barbara is married to Air Force Lt. Col. (ret.) Robert Keeney, now an American Airlines Captain. They have two accomplished adult children and have hosted 6 foreign exchange students over the years.  They enjoy tennis, sailing and overseas travel.
